THE CL1 JOURNEY

If you are a young aspiring goalkeeper and are looking for a role model in the Goalkeeping World, look no further than man himself, Cody Laurendi. We’ve had the privilege of working with Cody for the past several years and he is the Epitome of a true Professional. He’s respected equally on and off the field and we are thrilled to release this Signature Boss CL1 Edition Glove with him.

His journey to the pro game was not a straight line nor an easy one. At one point before his professional journey even began he was all but done with the game. But the passion for the game drew him back in and he decided to go all in. His long and winding road to the pro game began in the Belgium fourth division. From there he headed closer to home and after attending an open tryout he was signed with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the USL. A few seasons later he made his way back to his hometown of Florida and signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. A couple more stops along the way had him playing with LA Galaxy II and then Austin Aztex’s of the USL.

In 2016 he signed with Energy FC where he not only became and continues to be a fan favourite on the field, but off the field as well. Cody’s always got time for the fans and has become a staple in the community volunteering his time for a variety of great causes. That same year Cody was called up to play for the Puerto Rican National Team. Born and raised in the USA, his eligibility to play for the Puerto Rican National Team is due to his 3 years of residency in Puerto Rico while playing for the Islanders.

Since Cody joined the Keepaere Family his go to glove has always been our Boss Whiteout Model. When we decided to develop his signature glove, changing the specs of the glove were not an option. So we simply gave it a personal Cody Laurendi inspired touch. The American and Puerto Rican flags on the wrist straps represent his pride in being an American but also the pride and passion he has for representing Puerto Rico and playing for their National Team. And then there’s our personal favourite part of the CL1 Glove – his Genie Avatar! While going through a “Man Bun and Burly Beard” phase he became know to fans as the Genie for regularly pulling off magical saves.

A little inspiration can go a long way when you’re a keeper. Sometimes you need to dig just a bit deeper to achieve your goals. While the CL1 gloves won’t magically start making saves for you, they may help you channel your inner “Genie” and remind you of what you can accomplish when you put your heart and soul into what you love.
